Registration fees: Spring registration fees for 2024 are as follows:
- Tee Ball (age 5-6): $125
- Softball Launch League (age 6-8): $175
- Baseball A and AA (age 6-8): $175
- Baseball AAA and Majors (age 9+): $240
- Softball AAA, Majors and Juniors (age 9+): $240
Recognizing that many families are in a situation where finances could be an issue, please visit our Financial Assistance page.
Refund policy:
Pre-season decisions and planning are impacted by the reliable expectation that all registered players will participate. Thus, the last day to request refunds for upper level (AAA/Majors/Juniors) players is the day before evaluations (2/24/24).
Uniforms: This year, we are having players order their jersey directly through Gear UP. Ordering information will be shared once teams and team colors are set. Baseball will wear gray pants and softball will wear black pants this season. Hats and visors are included in the registration fee.
Volunteering: SWPLL is run 100% by volunteers. We ask that all families volunteer or pay a $60 per family opt out fee.
Equipment: All players need a glove in
order to be on the field. Players in AA baseball and above need a cup. If you are unable to purchase a glove for your child,
let the coach know. There are often limited supplies of lost gloves from prior
seasons that are available for loan. The league provides helmets, balls
and catcher's equipment. Cleats are optional, and metal cleats are
prohibited. This spring players will need
a USA Baseball regulation bat for all league games. For AAA and Majors, all bats must meet the 2018 bat standards
and have the new USA Baseball logo/sticker. (tee ball, A and AA can
continue to use old bats) Additional info here.
Player Evaluations: Player evaluations are required
for all players in AAA, Majors and Juniors (softball and baseball). Players must be registered for the
SWPLL spring season to participate in evaluations. SWPLL has a "no
cut" policy and strives to form teams that have an equal distribution of
talent through the draft process based on performance at the evaluation
session. As mandated by Little League policy, we are not able to accommodate player/coach requests at the upper levels.
Softball Evaluations will be February 25 from 3-6pm @ Mittleman Jewish Community Center Sportsplex Click here for FAQ's Baseball Evaluations Sunday, February 25th @ Ida B. Wells High School
Sign-up and details will be emailed after registration
Games/Practices: The number of games and practices is determined by level and based upon field availability from Portland Public Schools and Portland Parks and Recreation. We cannot tell you when your practice times will be until your team is assigned. We currently have vacant T-ball and A ball coordinator positions - volunteering for these positions is the best way to get your preferred times, fields, and teams!
