The fall ball season typically runs from early September through the end of October and takes place primarily on the weekends. If there is a way to start it sooner given the current regulations, we may start in August. It is more relaxed than the regular season and provides an excellent opportunity for players to build skills and learn more about baseball in a less competitive environment. It helps players prepare for the next spring season and have fun. We do not track wins or losses and no trophies are awarded.
The number of games played each weekend will be determined by how many teams sign up, and the location of games will be determined by which fields are available to us, as traditional fall sports like soccer take field priority (in fact, many players play other sports in addition to fall ball). Fall ball games are played against teams in other little leagues throughout the area.
Levels:
The levels for fall ball are done by league age. Below are the levels we plan to have teams for this year:
- 7/8 year old players (Baseball only)
- 9 and 10 year old players (most players will be in AAA spring 2024)
- 11 and 12 year old players (most players will be in Majors spring 2024)
Note, players that have aged out of little league are able to play with Wells Youth Baseball. This is a program for 7th and 8th graders as well as 6th graders who have aged out of little league.

Age Determination: Age determination is based on what age the player will be for next spring’s season (in other words, for Fall ball 2024 a player's age is the age he or she would be in the spring 2024 season). Please view the chart here to determine league age:
Practices: Fall ball typically doesn't not have practice due to limited fields being available from the city due to other fall sports. We are trying to obtain practice fields but practices will be optional.
Registration Dates:
Registration will open in late June/early July and close mid-August or when full.
Team Determination
The fall ball coordinators will create teams taking into consideration:
- Player age
- Objective assessment of team skill level. i.e. "A" Team, or "B" Team
- Request to play with certain teammates or coaches
The goal is to build teams that are similar in skill and experience, and when possible, accommodating requests for coaches, teammates, etc.
